Julie-Ann Aguhob also known as "Joy and Joy-joy" to family and relatives, was born and raised in the Philippines. She grew up with a family that enjoyed harmonizing together in singing hymns and sacred music. Having sung at churches throughout her life, she learned and performs an extensive repertoire including: Cantatas, Oratorios, Sacred Music, Hymns, Gospel Songs, and Christian Contemporary Music.
Julie-Ann has enjoyed performing all her life as a singer actress dancer. After several years living in Boston, Massachusetts, she moved closer to her family and currently lives and performs in the Lexington, Kentucky area. She currently teaches Computer, Music, Spanish at Summit Christian Academy in Lexington KY and regularly performs as a storyteller for the Children's Ministry at Southland Christian Church.She was recently soprano soloist for "Handel's Messiah" presented by Anchor Baptist Church in Lexington KY on December 2011.
In August 2010 she debuted in the role of of Agafya Nikiforovna, a role that she is creating for the world premiere of "With Such Friends" presented by Bluegrass Opera. Since her arrival in summer 2008, Julie-Ann has: performed in "It's a Grand Night for Singing!" with University of Kentucky Opera; received critical acclaim for her 2009 debut performance in the role of Mama Euralie in “Once on this Island” with KCTC/Summerfest. She has also performed with Actors Guild of Lexington, Bluegrass Mystery Theatre, Fantastical Theatricals, and Main Street Playhouse.
While living in Boston, she received a Master of Music Performance from Boston University; was a featured artist numerous times in the television program “Asian Focus”; and released her debut CD "Simple Song" now available at CDBABY, Amazon.com, iTunes, and Joseph-Beth bookstore in Lexington KY.
Julie-Ann has a wide repertoire encompassing several styles of music including classical, jazz, musical theatre, and pop. One of her favorite musical experiences is singing in the Tanglewood Festival Chorus with The Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestros Seiji Ozawa, Bernard Haitink, and The Boston Holiday Pops with conductor Keith Lockhart.
